Beware the Power of Bad Advice
We are often called to look at projects where people have been given varying pieces of advice whether from friends, relatives, co-workers or contractors. As concrete leveling experts it is our practice and our responsibility to give advice wisely. This blog post really struck a chord with us. Sometimes the answer is right in front of you but because of poor advice you may miss the, sometimes obvious, solution for years. We try to keep our minds open and encourage you to do the same. A-1 is looking forward to helping you with concrete leveling solutions this year. Now, if only we could get this pesky snow to disappear... Hope to see you soon!

A-1 Concrete Leveling will extend the life of your concrete…
Most customers know that A-1 Concrete Leveling uses its
patented equipment to raise sunken concrete but did you know that concrete can
be stabilized before significant settling occurs? Over time the sub-base below the concrete
become eroded due to compaction and drainage in conjunction with the freeze-thaw
cycle.
Those that have purchased new concrete over the last few
years know that the cost of concrete can practically match the cost of a new
car. Would you throw out your car if it needed maintainace? Do you perform
preventative maintenance to your car prior to it having an issue? Do you have
money to throw away?
A-1 Concrete Leveling’s system uses the counterweight of
the concrete, in conjunction with its tensile strength, pushes against the ground
trying to find solid ground to support the weight of the concrete. By doing so
the concrete is not entirely resting on solid ground and is supported by an unstable
soil surface which will increasingly be an unsuitable base for the concrete.
This will result in cracking, movement, sinking, further instability and increased
speed of deterioration. This deteriorating situation can be stopped or reversed
by pressure injecting our limestone-based slurry below the concrete through 1”
in diameter holes; the sub-base is thereby re-established and the life of the
concrete is effectively extended.
The fact is the smart money move is on saving the
existing concrete before it costs really big money to replace! This is
especially true for our corporate, industrial and municipal customers where “downtime”
is more costly than just the cost of replacement. Pressurizing soil and voids
below the concrete is preventative maintenance just like changing the oil or
brake pads on your car; it makes financial sense and cents. Extend the life of
your concrete with concrete leveling! We look forward to working with you soon.

A-1 Concrete Leveling goes back to school to teach sunken concrete a lesson!!!
This video is a
series of clips from a project at Barker Central School District where A-1
Concrete Leveling (Western New York Division) raised over 5000 square feet of
sunken concrete. The project was
completed in less than 3 days using our patented equipment and expert personnel.
Raising slabs back to its original position saves 50%-70%
versus replacement and is environmentally friendly. "We Pump It Up!"

A-1 Concrete Leveling and the 2014 FM Expo
Thursday, November 6,
2014 (11:00 AM- 5:00 PM)
Thanks again to Nancy Boyd Haley for organizing the ever-popular
Facilities Management Expo. We are
looking forward to exhibiting there!
For the past 19 years the FM Expo has provided a comfortable and
convenient environment to meet with many of our existing commercial and
industrial customers as well as the opportunity to connect with some great
people that may become new customers. The FM Expo is a great opportunity to learn
about new innovative products and services.
As concrete leveling is still emerging, and due to our unique, patented
pressure injection application, it is always good to meet with our customers
face-to-face to discuss our process. Of
course, it’s always a pleasure to reconnect with other vendors as well.
When concrete leveling is right for your project, A-1 Concrete Leveling
can save you 50 to 70 percent versus replacing sunken concrete. One of the best things about concrete
leveling is that it can be done until the ground freezes even in the rain so if
you have money in the budget use it with A-1 Concrete Leveling or lose it!
We look forward to seeing you at the 2014 Facilities Management
Expo! Visit us at booth #213 and see
what concrete leveling can do for your facility.
The Expos is at the Grapevines Banquets (333 Dick Road) in
Depew, NY, On Thursday, November 6th, from 11:00AM to 5:00PM.

How Long Does A-1 Concrete Leveling’s Process Last?
A-1 Concrete Leveling
Western New York uses proprietary concrete raising equipment to “Help Raise
Buffalo to Higher Ground” by raising settled concrete back to original position
through the use of specialized technology and expert personnel.
Over the past 8 years I
have completed almost 5000 estimates and we have raised over 25,000 slabs. One of the most common questions I’m asked is
“How long does concrete leveling last?” Good
questions often have more than one answer.
The quick answer is
years but it depends on a number of variables.
It is similar to asking how long car tires last. Well, it depends. Are they being used on a race car or grandma’s
car? Are they used in rough or snowy conditions? Is the driver aggressive and flooring it
every time they come off a stop light or is every drive like a Sunday afternoon
stroll in the countryside?
If the concrete is
caulked and any drainage issues are resolved A-1 Concrete Leveling’s work will
last for many years. We use high density
limestone based slurry which fills voided areas below slabs and generates the
pressure to raise those sunken slabs back to their original position. One need not look further than the endurance
of the Pyramids, also made of limestone, to know it has the potential to
outlast an Egyptian Dynasty or many nasty Northeastern winters.
Take a look below at the
original Before and After pictures from a driveway project in 2007. Then, as a testament to longevity, check out the
Before-After-Now photo from this year which is 7 years after the project was
completed and you can decide for yourself how long concrete leveling lasts.

A-1 Concrete Leveling keeps a patio from falling away into the abyss…..
It has been 8 years for A-1 Concrete Leveling raising almost
20,000 sunken concrete slabs in Western New York. Time fly’s when you see years
of learning and expertise re-create something new out of something old. It’s
not about the biggest jobs or the smallest jobs it’s about knowing when you
have contributed to a positive result!!!
During the past week we had an opportunity to revive a patio
that was sinking fast enough to consider how long it would take for the patio
to end up in China. Saving money is
great; but saving time and money is smart and why not be greedy when it comes
to your time and money?
A-1 Concrete Leveling provides an opportunity to “Pump it Up”
instead of pulling it out!

A-1 Concrete Leveling Relaxes at Del Monte Lodge & SPA Knowing We Provide A Long-Term Solution
This past weekend I had
the opportunity to stay at the Del Monte Lodge & SPA in the Rochester, NY
area where we completed a project 3 years ago and see first-hand the longevity
of our work. I felt like a proud dad
looking at our work at this beautiful place and knowing we had provided a service
that offered a long-term solution!!! Doing
something can be an accomplishment; doing something right is an achievement.
A-1 Concrete Leveling
Western New York Division is “Helping to Raise Western New York to Higher
Ground” by raising concrete that has settled over the years back to original
position. One of the most common questions I get on estimate is “How long does
concrete leveling last?” My answer… “A-1
Concrete Leveling guarantees our work for 2 years but our work should long outlast the warranty”. The #1 reason that
concrete settles is water erosion (aka: drainage) so the longevity of concrete
and concrete leveling can also be dependent on the pitch of the slab, dirt/fill
being added to the sides of the concrete and caulking exposed joints/cracks to
prevent future drainage from entering under the slab.

A-1 Concrete Leveling flexes its leveling muscles in Wilson New York……
A-1 Concrete Leveling Western New York Division is
“Helping to Raise Western New York to Higher Ground” by raising concrete that
has settled over the years back to original position. When it comes to leveling it’s critical to
have the best equipment but our patented equipment only is only half of the
story; it also requires the best people to make the magic happen. In the span
of a week we completed two pool deck projects in Wilson, NY both had a unique
set of variables.
After completing over 2400 projects in
the last 8 years the feeling of bringing value and successfully solving another
concrete issue never gets old but these particular projects brought a unique
type of satisfaction. It was an opportunity to test our skill and creativity
with the pumping system. Any skill worth having is a skill worth testing to
ensure continued improvement….

A-1 Concrete Leveling turns a leap back into a step…..
Over the past 7 years A-1 Concrete Leveling Western New York
Division has completed thousands of estimates and projects and one of the most
common questions that customers ask is: “Why did my concrete settle?” The simple answer is compaction of the
sub-base and the resulting surface drainage over time causes concrete to
settle. That being said, the areas that have been excavated around the
foundation of the house or structure have more fill and, therefore, a far
greater likelihood for significant initial compaction. Excavation and compaction in conjunction with
the disproportionate weight that concrete steps transfer to the sub-base
creates a perfect storm for steps and stoops to settle. When concrete steps settle it inevitably
results in one step being higher than the standard 7”-8” required by code. A-1 Concrete Leveling raises sunken steps and
stoop back to original position eliminating the dangerous leap that was intended
to be a step at a fraction of the cost and time. Take a moment to see what A-1 Concrete
Leveling can do for your sunken concrete steps and stoops.

A-1 Concrete Leveling sends water running…..away from the foundation
A-1 Concrete Leveling
Western New York Division is “Helping to Raise Buffalo to Higher Ground” by
raising concrete that has settled over the years back to original
position. The concrete patio that surrounds
a house can be a great area to spend time and hang out but when that concrete
settles and pitches water toward the house the time water spends hanging out at
your foundation can become a problem. Concrete
leveling will re-pitch existing concrete away from the foundation while saving
the landscape, money, time and the foundation; most people’s biggest
investment. Want to see some “Before and
After” photos from some of A-1 Concrete Leveling’s patio projects.
